You should go to visit your tattoo artists before, since most shops in US are required to keep a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), you can gather some information about the tattoo ink, such as the ingredients. Then make a copy of those ingredients. After this, make note of the substances that you are allergic to. Compare the two sheets, and change the ink that may consist the potential irritants. Secondly. Have a patch test ahead of tattooing. Put small amount of tattoo inks on your skin and remain it for at least 24 hours. If your skin turned out to be swelling or itching, which is beyond reproach that you are allergic to this kind of color. Also, you should have your tattoo artist do a “dot test” in advance, a small amount of pigment is tattooed into the skin as a small dot. Then you should monitor this area carefully to see if there are any signs of allergic reactions. A drop of black can make the color of the tattoo ink darken, and a drop of white can lighter the color. When lighter the color, distilled water also can be your choice.
